Pittsburgh, Febrero 12, 2026 – Today, state Senator Wayne Fontana (D-Allegheny) issued the following statement on FanDuel Sportsbook’s announcement that it will stop accepting credit card deposits on Marzo 2:

“I applaud FanDuel for making this change. And though protecting consumers from junk fees is commendable, the true benefit to Pennsylvania consumers from this action is preventing those with gambling addictions from falling into crippling credit card debt.

While FanDuel joins DraftKings in no longer accepting credit cards, these are not the only sportsbooks operating in Pennsylvania and company policies can be reversed. That is why the commonwealth must act to protect consumers by banning credit cards for online gambling.

Sen. Fontana’s Senate Bill 265 would prohibit the use of credit cards for sports betting and fantasy sports, online casino games, and iLottery in Pennsylvania.

At $6.8 billion, Pennsylvania’s 2025 gaming revenue reached a record high for the 5th consecutive year, led by a 27-percent increase from online casino games and an 18-percent increase from sports wagering.

Also breaking records last year was the number of calls for help to Pennsylvania’s Gambling Helpline (1-800-GAMBLER) for people struggling with compulsion and addiction, according to the Council on Compulsive Gambling of Pennsylvania.

Sen. Fontana introduced his bill, along with another (Senate Bill 266) that would prohibit the gaming industry from directly marketing to individuals on self-exclusion lists, to provide protection to consumers struggling with gambling addiction. Both bills were first introduced in 2024, and both are currently awaiting committee consideration in the Republican-controlled Pennsylvania Senate.
