Allegheny County – April 10, 2025 – Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced two organizations in the 42nd Senatorial District received grant awards from the state Department of Community and Economic Development. Uptown Partners of Pittsburgh and Neighborhood Allies were awarded Main Street Matters grants.

“Last February, I was happy to host Governor Shapiro through the Mt. Lebanon business district as he touted his new Main Street Matters plan,” said Senator Fontana. “These grants are the first of many targeted investments in our communities and communities across the commonwealth. I am proud to have advocated for these awards and look forward to seeing the impact of this investment.”

Neighborhood Allies is receiving $100,000 for its Homebase Microgrant Program and Uptown Partners is receiving $37,500 for its Uptown Main Street Revitalization Plan.

The Main Street Matters program was established in the 2024-25 Budget by the General Assembly to support the commonwealth’s downtown cores and surrounding neighborhoods with tools to create healthy, vibrant, and welcoming communities. First proposed by Gov. Shapiro, funding is available to support revitalization efforts in planning, business support, aesthetic improvements, and the increase of safety and security.
