Allegheny County – May 15, 2025 – Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced grants totaling $218,840 in state funding to senior community centers in the 42nd senatorial district.

“May is Older Americans Month and I am proud to announce these grants to these Senior Community Centers in my district,” said Senator Fontana. “The impact of these facilities in the lives of our friends and neighbors is unmistakable and help make Western Pennsylvania such a great place to live.”

The Senior Community Center Grants are administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging and are funded from proceeds from the Pennsylvania Lottery.

Centers in the 42nd District that received $2,525 grants for programming, technology upgrades, and nutrition services are:

  • CYA – Polish Hill Senior Center
  • Beechview Healthy Active Living Community Center
  • Brighton Heights Healthy Active Living Community Center
  • Lawrenceville Healthy Active Living Community Center
  • Washington Healthy Active Living Community Center
  • Sheraden Healthy Active Living Community Center
  • Chartiers Community Resource Center, Carnegie
  • Macedonia FACE – K. Leroy Irvis Towers
  • Seton Overbrook Senior Center

Competitive grants for capital improvements and renovations were also awarded to:

  • Sarah Heinz House, Northside – $127,500
  • CYA – Stephen Foster Center, Lawrenceville – $68,615
