Allegheny County – May 28, 2026 – Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced four organizations in the 42nd Senatorial District received grant awards totaling $1,975,000 from the state Department of Community and Economic Development.

“Main Street Matters grants are targeted and thoughtful state investments into projects that will spur additional redevelopment,” said Senator Fontana. “I am proud to have advocated for these awards and look forward to seeing how these projects help revitalize communities, support local businesses, and strengthen our economy.”

Organizations that are receiving grants:

  • Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank – $900,000 for Phase 2 of the expansion and rehabilitation of its facility in Bellevue
  • Allegheny County Housing Authority – $800,000 for Phase 1 of the Hays Manor redevelopment project in McKees Rocks
  • Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy – $175,000 for the restoration of Mellon Square Park Downtown
  • Millvale Borough Development Corporation – $100,000 for its zero-energy mixed use rehabilitation project at 216 North Avenue

In total, fifty-six projects were awarded Main Street Matters grants totaling $17.2 million. A full list of grant recipients can be found here.

The Main Street Matters program was established in the 2024-25 Budget by the General Assembly to support the commonwealth’s downtown cores and surrounding neighborhoods with tools to create healthy, vibrant, and welcoming communities. First proposed by Gov. Shapiro, funding is available to support revitalization efforts in planning, business support, aesthetic improvements, and the increase of safety and security.
