Senator Fontana Announces $7.6M in Project & Infrastructure Grants

Allegheny County – December 18, 2025 – Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced $7,650,433 in project & infrastructure grants are coming to communities throughout the 42nd senatorial district.

“We are fortunate to have so many great organizations working to make our neighborhoods such a wonderful place to live, work, and play,” said Senator Fontana. “I am proud to have advocated for these grant awards to renovate, rehabilitate, and redevelop projects and infrastructure in our communities.”

Sen. Fontana worked to secure the following funding:

  • 216 North Avenue in Millvale – $650,000 towards renovating a blighted property into office and meeting space for the Millvale Community Development Corporation.
  • Bishop Canevin High School – $350,000 for the school’s Gymnasium Renovation and Improvement Project.
  • Dormont Borough – $100,000 towards replacing the surface at the Castle Playground.
  • Green Tree Borough – $300,000 towards renovating the borough’s public pool house.
  • Heinz History Center – $50,000 towards replacing the HVAC system at the museum.
  • Light of Life Ministries – $75,000 towards the purchase of new vehicles for the Voeghtly Street Shelter.
  • Lebanon – $100,000 for accessibility enhancements at the Recreation Center on Cedar Boulevard.
  • Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank – $1,000,000 to renovate their new facility in Bellevue.
  • Neville Township – $100,000 towards improvements at Memorial Community Park.
  • North Side Christian Health Center – $332,758 for renovations and safety and security upgrades at its North Side clinic.
  • Pittsburgh Musical Theater – $750,000 towards the renovations at its West End facility.
  • Pittsburgh Opera – $80,170 for a floor renovation project at the Bitz Opera Factory.
  • Pittsburgh Symphony – $200,000 towards the installation of new carpeting at Heinz Hall.
  • Reserve Township – $253,623 for sanitary sewer repairs.
  • Scott Township – $300,000 to install a new generator at the Municipal Building.
  • Stowe Township – $150,000 for a retaining wall reconstruction project on Benwood Avenue.
  • The Salvation Army – $100,000 towards replacing the roof at its property located at 1060 McNeilly Road in Brookline.
  • Urban Impact Community Kitchen and Daycare – $100,000 a daycare and preschool building at 2801 North Charles Street in the North Side.

Also awarded grants in the 42nd Senatorial District:

  • Allegheny Health Network – $400,000 for the purchase of two prehospital response vehicles.
  • Andrew Carnegie Free Library – $250,000 towards renovations to the music hall in Carnegie.
  • Avalon Borough – $221,350 towards replacing the retaining wall on North Birmingham Avenue near Avalon Community Park.
  • City of Pittsburgh – $1,000,000 to purchase two new ambulances.
  • Pittsburgh Water & Sewer Authority – $300,000 for 13 new services vehicles.
  • Quaker Valley Council of Governments – $237,532 for lighting enhancements at Mayernik Field in Emsworth.
  • The Greenwood Plan – $250,000 for the renovation of a warehouse at the Smithfield property in downtown Pittsburgh.

Sen. Fontana has brought LSA grants totaling over $23.2 million to the communities of the 42nd Senatorial District in the past three years.

This year’s grants were awarded at the December 18 Commonwealth Financing Authority board meeting from the Statewide Local Share Account (LSA). Statewide LSA grants are intended to support projects in the public interest throughout the state and are funded by gaming revenues.
