Pittsburgh – November 27, 2024 – Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced $289,842 in grants to address school violence by establishing or enhancing school security, including costs associated with the training and compensation of school security personnel, were awarded to four nonpublic schools in the 42nd Senatorial District.
Awarded by the School Safety and Security Committee (SSSC) under the Pennsylvania Commission Crime and Delinquency (PCCD), the Targeted School Safety and Security Grants for Nonpublic Schools program was created and funded by the General Assembly.
“I’m so pleased to be announcing these very important grants,” said Senator Fontana. “The safety of our school children is a priority for all families, no matter where parents send their kids.””
The following grants were awarded in Sen. Fontana’s Senate District:
- Bishop Canevin High School – $64,842
- Nazareth Prep, Emsworth – $75,000
- Seton LaSalle Catholic High School, Mt. Lebanon – $75,000
- South Regional Catholic Elementary Schools – $75,000
In the last three years, Sen. Fontana as secured over $1.7 million for safety and security upgrades at nonprofits, churches, and schools in the 42nd Senatorial District.
