Allegheny County – October 23, 2024 – Today, Senator Wayne Fontana announced $9,072,640 in project & infrastructure grants are coming to communities throughout the 42nd senatorial district.
“This money will have a huge impact on the people who live, work, and enjoy our neighborhoods,” said Senator Fontana. “I was proud to support these grant awards to renovate, rehabilitate, and redevelop projects and infrastructure in our communities.”
Sen. Fontana worked to secure the following funding:
- Carnegie Borough – $250,000 towards parking updates to various lots in the borough.
- Catholic Youth Association of Pittsburgh – $42,592 to purchase a vehicle for Meals on Wheels deliveries.
- Center for Hearing & Deaf Services – $750,000 towards renovating its building on Fifth Ave.
- Dormont Borough Stormwater Authority – $500,000 for stormwater runoff projects.
- McKees Rocks Borough – $106,068 for upgrade equipment at the police department.
- Mid-Atlantic Mothers’ Milk Bank – $1,000,000 to renovate their new facility in Bellevue.
- Lebanon – $621,300 towards construction of fire training facility.
- Reserve Township – $200,000 towards the Lonsdale St. and Emma St. sewer separation project.
- Riverlife – $600,000 towards restoring parts of Allegheny Landing.
- Uptown Partners – $191,365 for the redevelopment of the Historic Tito House.
- VFW Post 418 in McKees Rocks – $300,000 towards renovations of the Post 418 building.
Also awarded grants in the 42nd Senatorial District:
- Avalon Borough – $329,200 for renovations for the borough’s swimming pool.
- Bellevue Borough – $133,975 towards reconstruction the Jackson Retaining Wall between North Jackson and North Sprague Avenues.
- Carnegie Borough – $150,000 to stabilize the streambanks and install retaining walls along Campbells Run.
- Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh – $300,000 for renovations of its newly-acquired building at 412 East Commons Way.
- City of Pittsburgh – $999,999 for the Smallman Complete Street project.
- Elizabeth Seton Center – $99,885 to purchase a transport van.
- Green Tree Borough – $500,000 towards rebuilding the borough’s public swimming pool.
- Lower Hill District Foundation – $200,000 for the Urban Open Space project as part of Lower Hill Master Plan.
- Millvale Borough – $250,000 towards the rehabilitation of Logan Street.
- Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation – $250,000 towards the renovation of the Energy Innovation Center in Uptown.
- Clair Health – $500,000 towards constructing a psychiatric unit in Mt. Lebanon.
- Scott Township – $91,250 towards sidewalk rehabilitation along Bower Hill Road and $395,006 towards repairing the streambank and making associated roadway restoration along Duncan Way.
- Sports and Exhibition Authority – $312,000 for upgrades to the David L. Lawrence Convection Center’s 10th Street underpass.
Grants were awarded at the October 22, Commonwealth Financing Authority board meeting from the Statewide Local Share Account (LSA). Statewide LSA grants are intended to support projects in the public interest throughout the state and are funded by gaming revenues.
