September 26, 2017: Senator Fontana spoke at a press conference last Tuesday hosted by Pittsburgh Musical Theater that discussed a Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council research study which measured the impact of the arts in our region.
August 24, 2017: Senator Fontana spoke at a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by the Hilltop Alliance on Aug. 24 to commemorate the launch of their Urban Farm project on the site of the former St. Clair Village. This project will be anchored by what one of the largest urban farms in the country.

June 8, 2017: I was honored to participate in a pre-game ceremony at PNC Park last Thursday night prior to the Pirates-Marlins game where the team honored the sacrifices made by more than 92,000 American service men and women who are Prisoners of War or Missing in Action since World War I by dedicating “one empty seat” at the ballpark.
May 13, 2017: Senator Fontana visited the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh's Allegheny branch on Saturday for a special event recognizing Pittsburgh Public School third-grade readers who have been participating in CLP’s BLAST Northside program. Students from Pittsburgh Allegheny, Pittsburgh King, Pittsburgh Manchester, Pittsburgh Morrow and Pittsburgh Spring Hill have been working hard to develop their reading and other skills for school success as part of this initiative.

November 11, 2015: Senator Fontana spoke at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Fort Willow residential project in Lawrenceville. Developers Alex Simakas and Walnut Capital are building apartments that will include a massive public space at the site of a 1930’s foundry.
October 20, 2015: Senator Fontana enjoyed meeting with students from the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf (WPSD) at the Capitol in Harrisburg.
November 5, 2015: Senator Fontana participated in a Roundtable Discussion with the Senate Democratic Policy Committee in Pittsburgh. The Discussion centered on the integration of the arts with science and mathematics in education, the “STEAM” Movement, with a focus on how this type of learning better prepares our emerging workforce for jobs that pay.

September 12, 2015: Senator Fontana, along with County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, spoke at the Community Appreciation Day held at Kennard Field in the Hill District hosted by Representative Jake Wheatley. The event was part of the Health and Wellness Weekend, an effort to increase health awareness and motivate participants to live an active, sustainable and healthier lifestyle.
September 9, 2015: Senator Fontana attended and participated in a Town Hall meeting in Brookilne, organized by Representative Dan Miller that included Representatives Harry Readshaw and Dan Deasy that discussed the status of the state budget and various local issues.
The Homeless Children’s Education Fund partnered with Citizens Bank and UPMC Health Plan to collect school supplies and pack backpacks that will be distributed to homeless provider agencies in our region. Senator Fontana, along with Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald, helped load school buses with the collected supplies on August 21st.
Senator Fontana visited with residents at Marian Manor on June 13th for the 4th annual Rocking for Residents event, a fundraiser for the Vincentian Collaborative System.

March 12, 2015: Senator Fontana participated in a Legislative Panel at Representative Dan Miller’s Children & Youth Disability & Mental Health Summit on March 12th. Providers, parents, school administrators, and advocates were among those who participated and spoke about the many issues confronting disabled youth and individuals afflicted with mental health illnesses.
